Boston to ring in the new year with anime

First Night Boston is the country's oldest and largest New Years arts celebration. On December 31, 2004 from 12:00 noon to midnight, First Night presents its 29th annual day-long festival of art, music, dance, ice sculpture, fireworks and more. First Night is an alcohol-free event that welcomes children, families and revelers of all ages to celebrate community and unity through the arts.

For the second consecutive year, The New England Anime Society, the organizers of Anime Boston, will present some of the best and most popular Japanese animation from the last forty years. The anime will be screened at the Hynes Convention Center, the site of Anime Boston 2005 in late April.

The anime programming schedule is as follows:

  • 1:00pm - Speed Racer (1 episode)
  • 1:25pm - Grrl Power (ep 1)
  • 1:50pm - Break
  • 2:15pm - .hack//Legend of the Twilight (ep 1)
  • 2:40pm - Kaleido Star (ep 1)
  • 3:05pm - Break
  • 3:30pm - Magic Users Club (ep 2)
  • 3:55pm - Azumanga Daioh (ep 1)
  • 4:20pm - Break
  • 4:45pm - Pretear (ep 1)
  • 5:10pm - Twelve Kingdoms (ep 1)
  • 6:00pm - Closed during procession
  • 7:30pm - Escaflowne (ep 1)
  • 7:55pm - Someday's Dreamers (ep 1)
  • 8:20pm - Break
  • 8:45pm - Martian Successor Nadesico (ep 1)
  • 9:10pm - Galaxy Angel (eps 1 & 2)
  • 9:35pm - Break
  • 10:00pm - Full Metal Panic (ep 1)
  • 10:25pm - R.O.D the TV (ep 1)
  • 10:50pm - End of programming

This program is among over 200 being presented at First Night Boston 2005.
